The Ensemble Erwin List
Choir and Orchestra composed of amateurs and professionals
A musical formation born in 2013, the Ensemble Erwin List is a group of musicians: a choir and an orchestra whose members are either passionate and experienced amateurs or professionals. We number about 60 people. Whilst they generally perform together, both the choir and the orchestra can perform alone, as determined by the programme. The Ensemble draws its programmes from the musical repertoire which covers the period from baroque to the beginning of the 20th Century.
Based in La Roche sur Yon in Vendée, this musical formation brings together people from all over the Pays de la Loire, some even further afield.
The Ensemble Erwin List is conducted by Loïc Chevalier, its Artistic Director, with Florence Collin as 1st violinist, both of whom teach music at the Conservatory of La Roche sur Yon. Highly experienced musicians, they have devoted many years to supporting amateur musicians.
The orchestra comprises strings (violins, violas, cellos and double-basses) to which can be added a wind section (flutes, clarinets, oboes, bassoons, trumpets, horns, trombones…) and a percussion section, kettle-drums….) as required by the programme.
The choir has four voice registers (sopranos, altos, tenors and basses).
The singers and instrumentists recruited are at a minimum of the 3rd level of conservatory studies or are able to demonstrate considerable experience within a choir or an orchestra.
Depending upon the work chosen for performance, the Ensemble can add other professionals, primarily for solo parts.
